_ Vertical Segment Managing Editor

Shattered Glam Magazine is seeking a Vertical Segment Managing Editor on a part-time basis to provide the relevant content and concepts to fulfill the editorial calendar and goals of the organization.

Duties include:

• generating topics for articles and encouraging a team to do the same;
• participating in regular features meetings where the critical team generates new ideas;
• recommending which feature will appear in which issue;
• participate in the management of a team freelance feature writers;
• recommending an in-house or freelance writer to write a feature;
• communicating with writers (with a detailed summary of what is needed, the deadline, word count and fee, etc);
• editing features and ensuring they are good enough to print – this may include sending work back to the writer with queries or a request for a rewrite;
• integrity maintenance and fact checking;
• occasionally, researching and rewriting features/sections;
• contributing to art desk and production desk discussions around format and illustrations;
• proofreading all pages after the production team has set them out before going to press;
• maintaining and raising the profile of the magazine;
• networking with others in the industry;
• attending seminars, conferences and trade fairs;
• other duties as assigned by management.

General Requirements:

• highly literate, with a sound knowledge of English grammar;
• eye for detail;
• good general knowledge;
• good organizational skills;
• able to produce detailed and accurate work, often to tight deadlines;
• good management and leadership skills;
• aptitude for using computers.

_Editorial Assistant

Shattered Glam Magazine is seeking an Editorial Assistant on a part-time basis to help with a wide range of tasks. We’re looking for someone who can assist the Editorial and Production Staff with the selection, editing, and layout of our magazine.

Our Editorial Assistant will:

• Edit submitted articles for spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax;
• Act as liaison with writers, artists, and photographers preparing submissions;
• Assist Editorial and Production Staff in the selection of articles for publication;
• Consult with Editorial and Production Staff in the selection of art and article layout;
• Verify facts in submitted articles using standard research methods;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Editorial Assistant may, depending on the individual:

• Generate ideas for new articles;
• Re-write submissions to conform with our editorial style;
• Write original articles as directed.

This position reports to our Managing Editor or Contributing Editors as assigned.

_Sales Associate

Shattered Glam Magazine is seeking several Sales Associates to work with business owners by helping them get new customers utilizing advertising programs available through our magazine. Our Sales Associate will:

• Cold call/prospect for new clients – this will be a major focus;
• Conduct in-depth consultative interviews with new prospects;
• Create and write proposals for prospective clients that address their needs and goals;
• Close sales;
• Act as liaison between clients and the publisher, serving their changing needs;
• Collect payments due to the publication;
• Attend regular sales meetings and training sessions;
• Daily check-in with sales manager when in the field;
• Maintain and submit weekly activity log;
• Exceed monthly billing and collection goals;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position reports to our Sales Manager.
